I decided to spend my Birthday weekend camping at Sugar Pine Reservoir in the Tahoe National Forest. It is located at approximately 3,600 ft in elevation in Placer County. We stayed at the Shirttail Creek Camp grounds in camp site 13. It was a very spacious, mostly shaded, camp site with a bear locker, fire ring and picnic table. There is a nice hiking trail that goes all the way around the lake and is about 3 or 4 miles long. The weather was beautiful and the mosquitos weren’t too bad! The water was nice and not too chilly. I would definitely recommend the campground.
